Guitarists of R&P: Are there any custom guitar companies that you've had experiences with?
If so, what brands and how well made or poorly made were they?Do keep in mind that I'm talking about companies that only make guitars to order, such as Crook Custom Guitars not the famous companies like Fender, Gibson, Taylor, etc.

How can I get this custom guitar cheap?
Most people who order custom guitars are professionals, so it's expensive to custom order. What I'm trying to do is build a special prototype guitar. Imagine I wanted to say build a guitar that had electronics built into a special plastic fretboard. So I don't want a fretboard on the guitar, because I will use my own. The only other special requirements is that it has a floyd rose tremolo, and floyd rose nut. And it might be a baritone. It could be like no frills Strat copy. I was thinking of just removing the fretboard, but I'm wondering if I can ask a factory to just build one without the fretboard.Since I might want a baritone I figure I might as well get a baritone, and the floyd rose tremolo would be good to have as well as good pickups. I was on ESP guitars and something like this would be 6,000 dollars. My budget is more in the $300 600 dollar range since this is a prototype.Perhaps I should say " made to order" instead of custom. When you think custom you think custom designed. Made to order is when you specify what color the guitar it, what kind of parts are put together. That is still usually expensive because most people go with store bought guitars that are cheap. So it might be difficult to find a less expensive made to order shop. But it seems like I should be able to find a place that makes guitars in the $500 range that adds maybe $50 for made to order.I did not say I would not have a fretboard. I certainly will have a fretboard, but it would be something that would be added to the guitar. It would be impossible to work with the current fretboard, because it would be too thick. So I want it without the fretboard, and I will add it later. What would be perfect would be just the neck without the fretboard glued on. Yes I obvioulsy would have to bolt on the neck if it didn't have a fretboard. Unless someone can think of a way to route channels in the fretboard for the wires, I'm at a loss for how I'm going to do this. This other guy removed the fretboard, I might have to do that, but I" m not very skilled, and it's difficult. I would rather get the neck without the fretboard. What I'm mainly looking for is a modified neck, but there are other considerations such as the floyd rose tremolo, and possibly a baritone which is a longer neck .
